Zeebrugge Churchyard

This cemetery is located in the churchyard of Sint Donaas on the Sint Donaasstraat.

Of the 186 burials in the care of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission at this cemetery, 30 are Commonwealth servicemen who died during the First World War. Of these 30 servicemen, only 13 are identified.

7 of the identified burials were serving with the Royal Air Force and were killed in May or August 1918.

One of the identified burials is Petty Officer John Albert Mayers of HMS “Thetis”.

A special memorial commemorates an officer of the Royal Naval Air Service, who is believed to have been buried in the cemetery.
