Last Post Association App, Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres/Ieper

The Last Post Association has developed an App, in close collaboration with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The app tells you what you need to know if you wish to take part in the daily Last Post ceremony, there are stories about the men commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, the story of the “soldier of the day” and lots more.

Nga Tapuwae New Zealand First World War Trails

Nga Tapuwae tells the story of New Zealand’s involvement in the First World War and guides the visitor through sites particularly significant to New Zealand in Gallipoli and on the Western Front. Noted military historian Dr Christopher Pugsley is the historical consultant and narrator for the trails. Historical information, images, maps and dramatized personal stories illustrate the events that happened and the people who were involved in them.
The trails can be can be downloaded as apps, explored on a PC, phone or tablet or printed off as e-books. Find out more from the website:

Poperinge: WW1 Sites and Stories
A free app (multilingual) has also been designed for walkers and cyclists in conjunction with an exhibition at Poperinge. The exhibition features the roll played by the town behind the Allied Lines and is called “Heavy Traffic”. Explore the area and see bygone images as you visit a number of sites of WW1 interest:
